Machine Quilting Services

All quilts are quilted, in our smoke free studio, using one of our 2 Statler Stitcher computer assisted longarm quilting machines. We have the best of both worlds - computer enhanced accuracy and experienced hand guided capability whenever necessary.

We work closely with you at every step to provide you with a finished quilt you can be proud of. We offer everything from simple pantograph type patterns all the way through heirloom custom quilting.

Quilt Top and Backing Preparation

Quilt top should be pressed with all seams ironed flat.

All loose and stray threads should be clipped. Stray threads may show through on light colored fabrics.

Keep top, batting and lining separate. These layers are loaded on the machine separately.

The backing and batting should be a minimum of 6 inches wider and longer than the quilt top. This is non-negotiable.  Backs that do not meet a minimum of 6 inches wider and longer than the quilt top will incur fees to add fabric for quilting purposes.

If your quilt top or backing is directional, indicate the top with a piece of paper and attach with a safety pin.

Cut backing pieces of fabric the same size. Remove all selvages, use a wide seam (1/2 inch) and press open.

Helpful Border Hints

Measure your top in three places: top, middle and bottom and cut the borders the average of these measurements if they are not the same.

Mark both the border and the quilt top edge in quarters. Match the marks and ease the quilt into the borders.

Too much fullness in the borders will result in "wavy" borders. This will show and cannot be quilted out.  In fact, "wavy borders" may result in pleats in the borders for which we cannot be responsible.
